Site Update: Volunteers sought, CaseTracker module added

As we get this site set up. we're going to be adding a fair amount of more sophisticated tools for you to do great things with. Also, we're going to be asking for volunteers to help with them. I'll get to that in a bit...

Right now, let me explain that to help with tracking issues with the web site as they are identified, we've added a Drupal module called CaseTracker from here.

If you're familiar with the concept of trouble tickets in the tech support realm, CaseTracker does that but it's also more generic. While we're going to be using it for web site related trouble tickets / issue tracking for right now, the experience and expertise we put together while doing so will put us in a position to provide training and support to activist groups that organize on BlackVanguard.net who want to use it for simple project management purposes to carry out whatever they're doing.

That gets back into the topic of volunteers...

As we add more software tools, we're going to need to recruit volunteer Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for each of those tools. The total workload is going to be to muc for any one person or even a small group of unspecialized folks. CaseTracker is the first such tool we're seeking a SME for. Becoming a SME does NOT mean you currently claim to BE an expert in that tool. Rather, it means you're going to take ownership of the need to acquire expertise related to it. In other words, a SME:

* studies the tool intensely
* researches issues as they arise
* is available to consult with the overall site admins
* prepares user training materials
* and heads up user support for that tool

When we get around to setting up CiviCRM, we'll probably need a few SMEs for different parts of that. It's serious campaign software. Ron Paul has the Campaign for Liberty. We can, if enough of us so choose, run an ongoing campaign for anarchy that will put other groups to shame.

So, yes, we first need a volunteer SME for CaseTracker.

Additionally, we need your trouble reports, feature requests and so forth. To make those, just go to "Create Content" over in the navigation menu and create a Case.

Finally, we will need other volunteers besides software SMEs. We'll be looking for maybe two volunteer admins (ideally with Drupal experience) to help out Mike and myself (Brad) and maybe a few volunteer moderators once site registration is thrown open to all.
